Two Valentines

Good evening I hope you had a happy Valentines day.  I made a nice dinner to enjoy with my kids and husband.  To treat myself I spent some time in my craft room this afternoon and made a shaker card.  I made my husbands valentine yesterday.

I used alcohol inks on glossy cardstock.  I love how alcohol inks work on yupo paper but yupo paper warps when heated.  I wanted to heat emboss the card so I used glossy cardstock.  Once the alchol ink was dry I used the Hero Arts stamp and white embossed the stamped image.  The sentiment is from a Hero Arts stamp and cut set.

Then today I made a second card with the same Hero Arts Heart Pattern Bold Print.

I embossed the heart print with sparkly silver embossing powder on watercolor card-stock.  I then spritzed it with water and sprinkled on crimson and turquoise Brusho powders.  I used heart dies to create the shaker frame.

I am entering these cards in the February Twofer Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. I love shaker cards! So clever way to use that heart stamp as the background to your shimmery shaker! And those bold, rich colors of your DH's Valentine are just wonderful! Those hearts just pop against it. Two fabulous heart cards! Thank you so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. Bev

  2. These are both exquisite, Kelly! Your jewel tones really embolden each stunning design! I love your alcoholic inks on glossy paper (agree with you about liking that better for heat embossing) which works as a perfect background to the white-embossed image! But your shaker card is the one that really made my eyeballs pop! Those colors are just delicious with all that white! It never occurred to me to use my Brushos AFTER embossing a design, so thank you for that lesson!! And thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #2!! Hugs, Darnell
