World Beautiful

I think the Hero Arts "You Are Loved" stamp set is fantastic for letting someone know how much they matter.  I got it inky for the CAS challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

For me CAS cards can be very challenging to design.  I feel like they need to have more impact in a simple way.  Also I have to be careful to keep my inky fingers from smudging all that pristine white space.

I stamped the globes and colored them using Copic markers.  I used a stamp positioner to get the sentiment straight.  For a bit more impact with the sentiment I stamped in Versafine and heat embossed in clear.  The hearts were stamped then filled in with a thick layer of black Nuvo Drops.  Simple card to recreate.

Thanks for stopping by hope to see your work at A Blog Named Hero.

Ninjas For You

A challenge for me with CAS card design is keeping it one layered and not adding a bunch of embellishments.  A CAS card to me is not that simple to design, it requires some thought.  For this card I wanted to create movement, to make the Ninja look like he is doing a powerful kick.  I stamped the Ninja on the cardstock and masking paper.  I masked the ninja off and used post it notes to mask of the area for the rays.

I used stencil brushes to add red, yellow, green and blue distress ink.  The sentiment is heat embossed in my favorite way for black (stamp in black pigment ink and emboss in clear).  I used Copic markers to quickly color the stamped images and added some clear Nuvo drops to the throwing star.  I worked on a piece of cardstock sized 4.25"x5.5", the same size as a card front.  I find this easier than working on a card front, when it is adhered to a card it still looks one layered.  I remembered to keep my fingers clean as I wasn't going to be easily able to camoflage any smudges on this card.  My red Copic marker is really juicy and a dot of ink did land in the white space, I used a white gel pen to cover it up.

CAS Warm Hugs

My third and final entry for the My Favorite Things 2017 Card Design Superstar Contest.

I am entering this card in the Clean and Simple Genius Category.  Jennifer McGuire shared a technique in a video in which she used daubers to do multi color stamping with solid stamps.  I used this technique with Distress Oxide Ink.  An important tool for this card is a stamp positioner. I stamped the hat, scarf and mittens with a white pigment ink.  Next I cleaned the stamps then used sponge daubers to add Distress Oxide Ink to the stamps.  I reapplied the ink and stamped the images multiple times until I liked the colours.  I stamped the stitch details in navy blue dye ink.  The sentiment is white heat embossed.  Finally I added some final details with a white gel pen.
I used stamps from My Favorite Things sets "Winter Warmth" and "Merry Christmoose".  Very fun challenge, so many amazing entries!

Birthday Octopus

Hello, sharing a CAS card today.  I masked off a square and watercoloured it with flourescent orange and green Zig Real Brush markers.  When the watercolouring was dry I removed the mask and stamped the Hero Arts octopus.
I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.

I would also like to enter this card in the CASology Birthday challenge.

Thank you for stopping by.
