Ombre Butterfly

I was hoping the sun would come out for me to take a picture of my card, but no luck.  Feels like the rain won't end here in Texas.  I would like to enter this card in the current Virginia's View Challenge #15.
June Challenge: Ombre/Monochromatic
I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to use your favorite technique/product.  Lately my favorite technique/product is water color paints.

I embossed the butterfly image (a retired Penny Black stamp) on a piece of water color card stock.  To add colors to the butterfly I painted areas with clean water than dropped water color paints (I used Twinkling H2Os for some shimmer) at the spot I wanted the most intense color.  The water color paints spread into the water, this is a fun technique.  Once the butterfly was dry I coated it with a layer of liquid masking.  When the liquid masking was dry I placed a stencil (Stampers Anonymous) over the piece and sponged distress ink (Tumbled Glass) over it applying more ink to the bottom of the piece and gradually less towards the top to create an ombre effect.  I sprinkled some black Mister Huey's on the piece, than when all was dry removed the liquid mask.  Removing the mask and seeing how it turned out is the best part.

Thanks for stopping by for a look.
