Hello. This card took some practice for me. I thought it would be simple to emboss the thanks die but I struggled with the card stock cracking and tearing. I made this based on techniques taught by Yana Smakula in the the Altnew Academy class "Easy Die Cutting Techniques". I used the Altenew "Thanks Die" to emboss the sentiment rather than die cut it. To use a die for embossing I use a rubber mat in my embossing sandwich that is specifically for this techniqe. But this time it was not working properly. In the class tips Yana suggests using thicker cardstock misted lightly with water. I went back and tried 100lb smooth bristol misted lightly with water and it worked perfectly the first try. I then blended on Distress Oxide Ink. I let the ink dry for a couple hours so I could heat emboss and have the embossing powder not stick to the background. After heat embossing the leaves I added more gold by splattering on water and embossing the droplets.
It is wonderful when instructors share their tips and techniques. Thank you for stopping by.
