HLS Watercolour Challenge With a Stencil

Hello!  Today's card is my first for the Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Design team.

For my card I did the challenges optional twist to use a stencil.  I used a watercolor technique shared by Justine Hovey in this YouTube video.
I taped a piece of watercolor card stock down to board since I was using a lot of water and it helps prevent water.  I than painted the card stock with clean water and a large brush.  I dropped three shades of water color on the card stock, moved it around with my brush and added more color where I wanted it darker.  While it was still wet I placed a stencil across the bottom corner and taped in place.  I used a lot of water so I let it dry for a couple hours, removed the stencil and water color from the board than placed it under a heavy flat object over night to help flatten it.  The next day I cut the watercolor down to the size I wanted, stamped and embossed the sentiment, sewed it using my sewing machine to blue card stock adhered a piece of fun foam to the back before adhering it to the card base.  Lastly I added some Nuvo clear drops for some embellishment.

I hope you are inspired to play along with our challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

  8. Love the way this turned out! (If I had a New Year resolution, it would be to be patient like you and let a project flatten overnight!)
