The inspiration this time for Tag You're It!  Is a pretty vintage looking photo.

I have not used buttons in my card making for too long.  The backing for the buttons in the photo inspired the design of my tag.  I masked the images to layer them and heat embossed them in white.  The whimsical images are from a stamp set by Papersmooches.  I colored the tag using pencil crayons. I found a soft yellow button in my stash for the center of the flower. To finish it off I used some white Nuvo Drops.

Holiday Cheer

My card is inspired by the challenges at Papersmooches and the Fusion.

Papersmooches challenges us to use ribbon, I love a challenge that encourages me to use my stash and I haven't used ribbon on a card for awhile.  Fusion has a great sketch that helped me with my card design.

I diecut the windows (Mama Elephant) on a piece of 4.25 x 5.5" (A2) cardstock.  I  placed a piece of kraft cardstock behind the diecut piece and lightly traced the windows with a pencil.  I then stamped the snowmen from Papersmooches and colored with pencil crayons.  I punched the squares from patterned paper (Lawn Fawn) adhered them to fun foam and tied the ribbon around.  I adhered everything together and added a diecut sentiment (Papersmooches).

To make this card I heat embossed the stamped images (Papersmooches "A Magical Spring") on watercolour card stock.  I wanted to keep the colour in one area so to control it I smooshed a mini Twisted Citron Distress Ink pad on a piece of acetate.  I spritzed the ink on the acetate with some water then pressed it on the embossed cardstock.  I used my heat gun to dry the colour and added more drying in between and building up the colour.  Then I spritzed the card front with a bit of water and sprinkled on some Lime Green Brusho.  I used paper towel to remove some of the colour in places I felt were too intense.

You're Brrrfect Winter Birthday Card

Hello!  I'm sharing a card today that I made for a winter Birthday.  I used stamps from Papersmooches for the sentiment and snowman.  I watercoloured the snowman using Shimmerz paints.  The blue background was created by dry embossing the snow flakes than I spritzed it with Shimmerz Snow White Vibez.  The card has beautiful shine from the paints and spray.  I also added some Nuvo Drops for embellishment.

The layout of this card was inspired by Viva La Verve December sketch.

Bronze Birthday Wishes

My family is very fortunate that our neighborhood is draining well during tropical storm Harvey.  Many parts of our city is flooded and local shelters are full.  The storm is expected to move away from us this evening but flooding may continue.  It's been a very stressful few days and hard to focus on things,  I needed the stress relief of card making and managed to make a card inspired by Stampafaire (all stamps and dies used for this card are from Papertrey Ink).

 Jessica Frost-Ballas made a gorgeous card for Stampafaire, her video is full of tips and techniques.  For my card I blended four different embossing powders to make a bronze.  For the background I swiped my Versamark ink pad over a embossing plate (from Papertrey Ink), pressed the card stock onto the plate, sprinkled embossing powder onto the card stock and melted it.  For the sentiment I diecut the sentiment and smooshed my Versamark ink pad on it then embossed it.

The stamped images from Papersmooches were fun to colour and great for cheerful masculine cards.  I colored using Copic Markers and added some details to my card using Glossy Accents, Nuvo Drops and a Glaze Pen.

Need Hugs?

I needed to quickly make a card to send my nephew who recently broke his arm.  Card sketches and patterned paper are handy for making a card quickly.  For this card I used stamps from Papersmooches and the plaid paper is from Lawn Fawn.  I coloured the cuddly cactus with Copic Markers and embellished the card with black Nuvo Drops.

My card design was inspired by the The Paper Players sketch challenge.

Lucky To Know You

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Every spring I seem to reach for the stamp set "A Magical Spring" from Papersmooches.  For this card I stamped the solid shamrock image with white craft ink than colored the stamped images with pencil crayons.

You Light Up My Life

Hello!  Made my first card using Chibitronics, it turned out well!  I sometimes struggle for ways to embellish masculine cards and the Chibitronics lights worked well for this.  I ordered the starter kit which comes with a very informative and helpful instruction booklet and I watched a couple YouTube videos to find out how to use these little lights.  I first made my card front which I water colored and left under a heavy flat object overnight to flatten out the warping from the water.  I cut a piece of card stock to the same size as my front piece to set up my circuit.  I punched small holes in my front piece with a piercing tool where I wanted the lights to shine through.  I placed my front piece on top my back piece so I could mark through the holes where the lights were to go.  I then drew my circuit on the back piece of card stock.  One circuit for positive leading to the positive end of the battery and one circuit for negative leading to the negative end of the battery.  The copper circuits for positive and negative need to be close to each other but not touch.  I than stuck down the copper tape following the pencil lines, carefully folding the tape at the corners, if it rips or breaks the energy cannot flow through the tape from the battery to the lights.

Once I finished sticking down the copper tape I burnished it with my bone folder to smooth it down.  Then  I stuck the lights on my circuit lining up the positive end of the sticker with the positive copper circuit (the light stickers and battery are marked with positive and negative).  In the photo you can see I made a pocket to hold the battery using a piece of folded card stock.  The pocket holds the positive circuit away from the battery and when pressed down engages the circuit so that the lights can be turned on and off.

I than used a triple thick layer of foam tape to surround the battery and to adhere the circuit to the front of my card.  The thick layer of foam tape holds the top flap of the pocket away from the battery  until the recipient presses on the front of the card.  Once adhered to a card base I added my sentiment and some sequins to the stars and the lighthouse lamp.

Lots of instructions but really quite simple, this is the first time I used the kit and the only thing I needed to be careful of was that the copper tape needed to be folded at the corners carefully or it could break.

Holiday Cheer Tag

Hello!  I made this festive tag for challenge #62 at Tag You're It!  Our inspiration is a fabulous tag made by Laurie Willison.  I was inspired by the stripes, die cut sentiment, shape and layout of her tag.  

For my tag I cut a piece of red cardstock in a square shape used a punch to round the corners and stamped it with matching ink and a striped background stamp (Impression Obsession).  I diecut the sentiment (Papersmooches) several times and adhered the die cuts together to make it thicker.  I stamped and embossed the snowflakes (Papersmooches).  After adhering the sentiment I added glitter to it with a clear Jelly Roll Pen than some shine with Glossy Accents.

Hello!  I used patterned paper and Papersmooches stamps to create a Birthday scene.  The August challenge at Papersmooches is "Friendship".  I sorted my handmade cards recently and realized how short I am of children's Birthday cards.

Christmas in July

Hello!  I'm back with a card to share inspired by the Muse Christmas Visions challenge.  It is so hot here today it was refreshing to make a cool snowy card.  I was drawn to the layout and the soft colors in the Muse Inspiration piece.  I masked off the bottom of my circle (die cut from water color card stock) and masked off the stamped images before brushing on distress ink and stamping the snowflakes.  I used my Zig Real Brush markers to watercolor the stamped images.  I adhered fun foam to the back of the circle to add dimension.  I added sparkle using Nuvo Crystal drops and Spectrum Noir glitter pen.  Stamps are from the Papersmooches sets: Swanky Snowdudes and Santa Paws.

Pug Birthday Card

Hi!  Today I'm sharing a card I made for my brother's Birthday.  He has a pug so I thought this adorable stamp from Papersmooches would be appropriate.  I created dimension on the card by layering several diecut sentiments and circles together.  I like to add glossy accents to Papersmooches critter's eyes.  I also added glossy accents to the balloons and beer mug.
Stamps I used are from Papersmooches sets: Woofers and Tweeters, Birthday Bash and a Magical Spring.

Kitty Grad Card

Good afternoon!  My oldest is graduating from elementary school in a few weeks!  So hard for me to believe, it doesn't seem that long a go I was dropping her off at preschool.  She is a bright, cheerful girl who loves cats and pretty colors.  I tinted embossing paste with distress ink and applied it to card stock using a stencil to create the rainbow colored background.  The cat and hat are water colored with distress ink.  The sentiment is embossed on velum.  All the stamped images I used are from Papersmooches.  Papersmooches May challenge theme is rainbows.

Pile of Birds

Hello!  Sharing a card today that took a different direction than I originally intended.  I wanted to play along with the current Papersmooches challenge "Black and White with a Pop of Color".  My card ended up being color with a pop of black and white.  I stamped the birds on watercolor paper than used masking fluid to cover the images before water coloring the background.  The water color paper I used is very off white which clashed with a white card base.  I also wanted to enter in the Simon Says Stamp "Polka" challenge.  I searched my stash of patterned paper and could not find a polka dotted paper that did not clash with the off white birds so I embossed the card base instead.

I have had this set of Papersmooches stamps ("My Peeps")  for probably four years now, which makes this card eligible for the challenge at Retro Rubber, keyword RRCB36.
