Butterfly Birthday

New challenge at A blog Named Hero is Anything Goes. I played with my alcohol inks to create a pretty background.

I used the butterfly dies from the January My Monthly Hero Kit.  This kit sold out quickly.  Hero Arts has several butterfly stamps and dies that would also work well.

Inky Christmas Card

Hello!  I am glad Michelle Lupton invited me to participate in her "Challenge me a Christmas Card" again this year.  My challenge to Michelle was to use a card sketch that I supplied.  This was a challenge to me as well as I have not shared any of my card sketches before.

I made an alcohol inked background on Yupo paper.  I used some Tim Holtz alcohol lift ink and stamped the snowflakes from Casual Fridays into the ink.  I also applied some silver foil to the ink while it was still sticky.  I heat embossed the sentiment from Concord and Ninth on the die cut tag using glitter embossing powder.  I diecut the snowflake from Simon Says Stamp several times stacked the layers adhering them together with liquid glue.  I sprayed the top layer with adhesive and used the Glitter Sprayer from Tim Holtz to add some Distress Rock Candy glitter. 

I adhered some fun foam behind the Yupo paper for some dimension.

Christmas in July with A Blog Named Hero

Hello!  A quick post today with my second card for the Christmas in July challenge.  For this card I created a alcohol ink background on Yupo Paper.  While the ink was still tacky I pressed a scrap of heat transfer foil onto it and the silver did stick to the background in some places.  I used the fabulous Hero Arts Snowflake Confetti die to die cut the snowflakes.  I kept the cut out snowflakes for other projects, they were too pretty to throw away.  The sentiment was created using the Hero Arts Merry Stamp and Cut.

Alcohol Ink Sympathy Card

Hello!  My card today is for the challenge at A Blog Named Hero.  

Because this is a sympathy card I wanted to use soft colors.  First I created the background using alcohol inks on Yupo paper.  Start with a generous puddle of Ranger Alcohol Ink Blending solution.  Next working quickly add the alcohol inks, give the colors time to spread and blend.  To help the inks move I used a puffer tool used for cleaning camera lenses.  While the ink is still a bit tacky I used a scrap of gold foil to add some shine.  The foil had been used and had a bit of pattern in it which worked well.

When the background was dry I used a Misti tool and archival ink to stamp the Hero Arts images from the set "Make a Fountain".  I use a stamp positioner because I find it a bit tricky to stamp well on Yupo Paper.  I ended up re-stamping the image a couple of times because I used the positioner it was an easy fix.  Next I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on velum.  To finish of the card I added a layer of Hero Arts cardstock.

Warm Wishes for 2019

Happy New Year!  Here with my first post for 2019.  This card is for the Winter Challenge at A Blog Named Hero.  You have until January 10th to participate in the challenge for a chance to win one of two prizes.  Rules can be found here.

I like looking at the color combinations and photos on the website Design Seeds for inspiration.  This time I searched the Design Seeds website for winter color schemes and a photo of paper poinsettias came up with a pretty color scheme of pinks and green.  I used some of my alcohol inks on Yupo paper to make the colorful background.  I was happy that the green and pink inks didn't mix together to make brown.  When the inks were dry I applied glitter embossing paste through the Hero Arts Graphic Snowflake stencil.  

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Hero Arts Stamp set Merry Messages on velum.

Monochromatic Birthday

 For my second card for the Monochromatic Challenge at A Blog Named Hero I went with a fall theme.  I used warm yellow and gold alcohol inks on Yupo paper.

I started with a small puddle of  Tim Holtz Alcohol Blending Solution on Yupo.  I dropped small drops of three yellow alcohol inks in the solution, I moved the colours by blowing gently in a straw (careful not to inhale the alcohol vapors).  I added a couple drops of gold ink at the end.  I then stamped the leaves in Versafine ink on heat resistant acetate and embossed them with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment was also heat embossed this time using white embossing powder on a strip of black cardstock.  I adherred everything together, careful to only apply adhesive behind the embossed leaves so it isn't visible through the acetate.

Two Valentines

Good evening I hope you had a happy Valentines day.  I made a nice dinner to enjoy with my kids and husband.  To treat myself I spent some time in my craft room this afternoon and made a shaker card.  I made my husbands valentine yesterday.

I used alcohol inks on glossy cardstock.  I love how alcohol inks work on yupo paper but yupo paper warps when heated.  I wanted to heat emboss the card so I used glossy cardstock.  Once the alchol ink was dry I used the Hero Arts stamp and white embossed the stamped image.  The sentiment is from a Hero Arts stamp and cut set.  

Then today I made a second card with the same Hero Arts Heart Pattern Bold Print.

I embossed the heart print with sparkly silver embossing powder on watercolor card-stock.  I then spritzed it with water and sprinkled on crimson and turquoise Brusho powders.  I used heart dies to create the shaker frame.
