Silent Night Tag

Hello!  I am so happy to be part of Tracey's Christmas 25 Days Of Christmas Tags as our 100th Challenge at Tag You're It!

For my tag I used stamps from Hello Bluebird.  I stamped the fox and star and used pencil crayons to color them in.  I adhered torn card stock along the bottom of the tag and added a hint of sparkle to the snow with a gel pen.  I also colored the star with the gel pen then coated it with Clear Nuvo drops.  The final embellishment was some white gems from Studio Katia.

The inspiration this time for Tag You're It!  Is a pretty vintage looking photo.

I have not used buttons in my card making for too long.  The backing for the buttons in the photo inspired the design of my tag.  I masked the images to layer them and heat embossed them in white.  The whimsical images are from a stamp set by Papersmooches.  I colored the tag using pencil crayons. I found a soft yellow button in my stash for the center of the flower. To finish it off I used some white Nuvo Drops.

Iris Anniversary

Hello!  At A Blog Named Hero we are celebrating Hero Art's Anniversary with the current challenge.

I used one of my oldest Hero Arts Stamps on this card, "Iris Bookmark" from 1998.  I stamped the image on paper for pastels.  I then colored it using Prismacolor pencils.

I fussy cut the image, adhered it to black fun foam and fussy cut the foam.  I used some layers of the new Hero Arts cardstock on the card as well.  The light purple was diecut with the Postage Infinity Die and sprayed with shimmer spritz.  The sentiment is from the older set , "All Occasion Messages".

Relaxing Day!

Hello!  This stamp set from Erin Lee Creative made me think of my oldest daughter.  We both love to read. Our cat or dog usually like to sit with us when we are relaxing with a book.  I stamped the large image on some drawing paper I enjoy using for coloring with pencils.  The pencils I blended with Gamsol and paper stumps.  I used my MISTI stamp positioner to stamp the image so I could stamp over it again when I was finished coloring it to crisp up the lines.  I stamped and colored the little rug using the same method.  I fussy cut the images.  

The background was made by masking off the bottom of a piece of card stock and brushing on Distress Oxide Citron ink through the Erin Lee Creative "Wonky Plaid Stencil".  I adhered the card together using a layer of white fun foam between the front and the black card stock for some dimension.

The sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches helped inspire my card design.

Cutie Tag

I'm excited today to be able to share with you that Tag You're It! Challenge is back with challenge #80!  Tracey McNeely was able to organize the challenge again and I am very glad to be back on the Design Team.

The theme for this challenge is:

I diecut my tag using a Studio Katia die from bristol paper (my favorite for blending inks).  I blended two shades of Distress Oxide for the background.  I used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies for the rest of the elements on the tag.  The little skunk was stamped on paper for coloring with pastels.  I used my stamp positioner to stamp the skunk, when I finished coloring it with pencils I stamped over it again to make the lines of the image crisp.  I fussy cut the image then adhered it to a piece of black fun foam and fussy cut again.

This tag will be perfect for one of my kids for valentine's day.  I hope you are inspired to join the challenge at Tag You're It!

Winnie and Walter and Chibitronics

Welcome to my blog post for the Winnie and Walter and Chibitronic Blog Hop.  I'm happy to be part of the hop as a member of the Chibitronic team.  

As the temperatures climb here it is refreshing to work on a winter themed card.  I love the cute critters in the stamp sets designed By Evelin T. For Winnie and Walter, for my card I used "Season's Tweetings with Evelin T. Designs".

When the recipient pulls the tab they see a sentiment and the lights turn.  I used an effects sticker in my circuit so the lights blink on and off.

To help me build my circuit using an effects sticker I refer to the instructions found here.

The arrow on the top of my card reminds me where to line the circuit up when adherring it to the card front.  I cut a slit in the circuit for my slider, the slider has copper tape on it that when pulled completes the circuit and the LED's light up.

For my card front I stamped the igloo and penguin on a piece of card stock.  I stamped the penguin first masked it then stamped the igloo.  I colored the images with pencil crayons (colored pencils) then fussy cut the image.  the background was made by cutting a piece of masking paper to look like a snow bank then adhering it to a piece of card stock.  I ink blended a couple shade of distress ink for the night sky.  Keeping the mask in place I used the Winnie and Walter Stencil "Big Bang Sci-Fi Star Creative Screenings"  to apply glitter paste.  Once the paste was dry I adhered the igloo to the card.  I used a piercing tool to poke holes in three of the lights on the igloo for the LED's to shine through.  Once my card was all put together I added glossy accents on top of the lights to finish it off.

Chibitronics and My Favorite Things Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to my blog as part of the Chibitronics and My Favorite Things Blog Hop!

 I listed some of my supplies at the end of my post.  For my card I did some coloring with pencil crayons, my coloring was inspired by a Kit and Clowder Pencil Colouring class I took a few months ago.  to make my background I diecut smooth bristol cardstock with the MFT die.  I then blended two shades of Distress Ink.  I used a baby wipe and the MFT stencil to create the radiating rays.  I used the baby wipe to remove the ink through the stencil.  I then colored the super girl with my pencils.  I diecut the girl and diecut a piece of fun foam with the MFT die that coordinates with the stamp set.  I wanted to give the girl some dimension .  The sentiments are all embossed using white embossing powder.  Below is a picture of the circuit I made to light up my card with white Chibi lights.  When the slider is pulled the circuit is completed and the lights turn on.

Kraft Hello Card

Hello, for September, A Blog Named Hero, is collaborating with a Casual Friday's to make one layer cards.  

For this card I stamped the floral stamp on the bottom of the kraft card stock and the butterfly stamp then colored it with pencil crayons.   I colored using light layers to build up the color.  I used a white gel pen to add some highlights and details.

Festive Reindeer

Still a few months until Christmas, but I find that time flys by in the fall and all sudden I have a million things to do for Christams.  Jessica Frost-Ballas has an inspiring Christmas card challenge on her blog.  

It can be hard to get inspired to create Christmas and holiday cards when it is still summer outside so I turn to challenges to help get me motivated.  I was inspired by a card Jessica made for May, I CASED the layout and design for my card.  

Materials:

- My Favorite Things "Merry Everything" stamps

- sequins(retired) and patterned paper Lawn Fawn

- Nuvo Glimmer Drops

- black Glaze pen

- white gel pen

- Prismacolor Pencil Crayons

- Gamsol (odourless mineral spirits)

- white embossing powder

- heavy weight white card stock for card base

- navy card stock

Stamp and colour the deer.  I coloured with pencil crayons blended with Gamsol and a paper stump. Fussy cut or die cut the deer image. Embellish the deer with black glaze pen and white gel pen. Cut layers of patterned paper and navy card stock to fit front of card.  Emboss sentiment on bottom panel.  Adhere card together and embellish with sequins and Nuvo Drops.

 This was a fun and quick card to make.

Pencil Crayon Moth

Once in awhile I like to challenge myself to use some products in my stash that I have had for awhile but haven't used.  

The Gina K. products I used to make this card I won quite awhile ago.  The challenge that inspired me to make this card is the Gina K. Designs Stamp TV weekly challenge, the theme is masking.  I stamped and masked the moth before stamping the foilage.  I used pencil crayons to colour the moth.  For some embellishment I used some clear Nuvo drops that I applied directly to the card, but they picked up the colour of the ink from the leaves.  To have the Nuvo drops stay clear I should have made drops on craft mat and when they dried glued them to my card.

Monday is a holiday here in the U.S, I'm looking forward to some extra family time (and maybe some extra card making time too).

A Blog Named Hero April Group Post

Hello!  I'm here with my card for a group post at A Blog Named Hero.  Last month I had fun colouring this large Hero Arts hydrangea stamp with Zig Markers this month I coloured it with pencil crayons.  For the first layer of pencil I blended the color on the flowers with gamsol (odourless mineral spirits) then added another couple of layers of pencil for detail.  The background was made using a wavy stencil from Hero Arts and stencil brushes.  The brushes are an easy way to create a soft coloured background that looks smooth (sometimes when I use blending foam applicators I get blotches of ink).  The sentiment was stamped with a black pigment ink then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I fussy cut the  hydrangea and glued it to the background.  The last thing I did for some embellishment was to add some translucent yellow Nuvo drops to the centers of the flowers.
